The program will be constructing international arrival gates, a corridor and elevated pedestrian walkway, connecting to a new Customs and Border Protection processing complex.
This position will also be contributing to future projects in and around SeaTac Airport.
PURPOSE: Provide support and assistance to all areas of Engineering Construction Services including compliance of construction contracts; quality control; drafting, monitoring and tracking construction documents; and maintaining construction-related logs and databases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Compile and maintain all construction documents. Assist with or independently draft or develop correspondence and construction documents including serial letters, commission memos, meeting notes, construction bulletins, change orders, utility shutdown forms, key requests, and security access forms.
Maintain project Trend Logs and produce tracking reports; coordinate distribution and review of contractor submittals and Request for Information (RFI). Coordinate stakeholders including Port departments, contractors, tenants, etc. to ensure proper documentation and execution of utility shutdowns, CAFs, site access and key requests; resolve associated field issues and provide updates on the construction process. Provide oversight on construction sites to ensure compliance with construction documents, timely installations according to project schedule, and maintain quality assurance. Put together daily reports of construction activities, and provide project photo documentation as needed. Support the inspection team in obtaining stakeholder approval of Construction Advisory Forms and Shutdown Requests. Attend construction meetings as necessary.
Assist in project setup, user training, and system maintenance for the Construction Document Management System; resolution of construction related discrepancies by researching and analyzing past projects, design drawings, trends, etc. and the identification of potential cost and/or time issues.
Perform administrative duties including interpreting contract documents, performing project close-out, and assisting with processing of pay applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Basic knowledge of how projects are conceived, designed and built; types of materials and methods used; techniques for estimating the cost of construction; structural, mechanical and electrical engineering; construction law, construction accounting, safety requirements and project management.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Organizational, research and analysis skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with constantly changing priorities. Ability to read and understand project plans, project schedules and specifications; use financial tracking, standard project management tools, and reporting tools.
QUALIFICATIONS: Combination of education and experience demonstrative knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field; or
In final year of college scheduled to obtain a degree in 6 months or less; or
Associate's degree and six (6) years of experience in the construction industry.
