Jones Edmunds, one of ENR's top 500 design firms is looking for an Engineer for our Utilities group. The ideal candidate will have 4 - 6 years experience in the design of solutions in the areas of water, wastewater and reclaimed water. The Engineer applies a broad knowledge of principles and practices in the utilities practice area for projects throughout Florida. The position may require working on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. The Engineer will have knowledge of principles and practices of related fields and ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams. This position exercises judgment in selecting and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. The Engineer may devise solutions to new and complex problems.
Our Utilities Practice
Our Utilities Discipline offers our Engineers the opportunity to work on developing innovative and unique solutions to the difficult challenges our clients face in meeting their water, wastewater, and reclaimed water needs. Jones Edmunds offers our clients a balance between practicality and creativity when solving problems such as processing wastewater for discharge to surface waters and reuse systems, constructing new pumping facilities with transmission and distribution piping systems, upgrading aging infrastructure, complying with regulatory requirements, and making operational systems more energy-efficient. These issues and more provide the opportunity for our Utilities Engineering staff to work on a wide range of utilities projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May design a complete project, system, component, or process and prepare complete project documents.
Prepare complete project documents consistent with project plans and within project scopes and budgets.
Formulate and solve problems.
Communicate regularly with the Project Manager on project activities and track project progress on completed work relative to agreed-on scope and deliverable goals.
Engage in continuing professional development.
Quality Program Responsibility
Assume responsibility for the quality of work submitted. Review designs and documents before submitting to the next review level.
Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Project Manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
Review the work of EIs completed under his/her direction.
Submit work for quality control reviews on time and in a complete format.
May act as Task Manager.
Provide information to the marketing team and others in the Company as requested.
May interact directly with clients.
May interact with other professionals through memberships in societies and technical organizations.
Present a professional and positive image of Jones Edmunds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: BS Engineering from accredited college or university
Registration: Florida Registered Professional Engineer
Experience: 4+ years of progressive consulting or related experience; MS in Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience, and PhD in Engineering may be substituted for 2 years of experience.
Other: Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable MVR
