Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Senior Structural Engineer leads the design and engineering of loudspeaker system structural parts, with special focus on rigging and mounting elements. This is a full-time exempt position.
Oversee rigging and mounting systems for loudspeakers using 3D mechanical CAD programs and create drawings for
Conduct physical and finite-element structural analyses, including complex loading conditions such as weight, wind, seismic on sub assembly and system level parts.
Ensure design integrity and perform PE functions.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, service, tech support staff, as well as selected customers to ensure products meet all Own designs from prototype to field.
Work closely with manufacturing, QC, Purchasing to ensure good parts get to the factory on time and are mechanically
Develop and maintain internal software programs used by customers to determine FOS of in-field system designs.
Lead the structural development process, including developing and maintaining in-house procedures and rating protocols.
Create and release system pull test reports based on physical pull tests, and work with the necessary agencies (P.E., NRTL, etc.) to get required certifications.
Be the authority on loudspeaker mechanical rigging and mounting related issues, which involves approvals of all related ECOs and Deviations and assisting/training others, both internally and externally.
Continually develop the most innovative designs and materials to achieve the best Consistently push with cutting edge ideas and look for patent opportunities.
Manage structural engineering vendor relationships, including overseas vendors, for quality and cost effectiveness.
Evaluate existing products and re-test/re-certify as needed due to requirement changes or ECOs.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
BA or BSc in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.
7-10+ years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering with emphasis in rigging of objects from ceilings, walls and trusses.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design aspects with emphasis in steel and aluminum structures, weldments, castings and machined
Strong knowledge of safety standards like CE, EN 292, DIN, BGV C1, PLASA.
Familiar with design for other processes/materials: Die Cast, Plastic, Molding, Rapid Prototyping, Sheet Metal, Forging,
Strong experience with Solidworks, Solidworks Simulation, Matlab, Agile, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Suite.
Experience with C++ and SAP2000 a plus.
Flexible team-oriented approach; able to adapt to changing priorities.
