Announcement: ODOT18-2230oc Traffic Design Manager – Principal Executive/Manager E Region 1 (R1) Highway Division Portland
ODOT's Region 1 headquarters, located in beautiful downtown Portland, is recruiting a Traffic Design Manager to provide leadership, management and supervision for the Traffic Unit. This position provides support to the Senior Traffic Manager and ensures the delivery of quality and timely traffic engineering services during complex transportation projects. In this role, you will:
Provide traffic engineering services for transportation projects.
Help develop and update quality control/quality assurance plans for traffic design-related projects.
Serve on statewide leadership teams.
Manage the staff and work of the Region 1 Traffic Unit.
Provide technical advice, program management, quality assurance and engineering services.
Take the leadership role on traffic design, traffic analysis and temporary traffic management.
Lead the development of traffic engineering design and practices.
Provide support for the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
Minimum Qualifications: Three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation. OR Two years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation AND 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management. OR Three years of professional experience as a program/project leader, assigning and reviewing work of professional staff (e.g., engineers, etc.) including project responsibility for developing goals and objectives, project evaluation, and monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.

A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering if required for this position. Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in the state of Oregon within six months of hire.
