Announcement: ODOT18-2240oc Traffic Investigations Engineer – Professional Engineer 1 Region 1 Highway Division Portland
ODOT's Region 1 headquarters, located in beautiful downtown Portland, is recruiting a professional engineer to conduct traffic engineering investigations and lead staff during traffic operational and safety studies. In this role you will provide support to the All Roads Transportation Safety Program (ARTS) and will respond to public concerns regarding traffic operations and safety. In addition, you will be involved with the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) by contributing pre-scoping and scoping support during operations and safety projects.
Minimum Qualifications: A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural or transportation-related engineering.
Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in the state of Oregon within six months of hire.
Special Qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).

Experience conducting highway traffic safety investigations and safety analysis.
Experience working on complex highway design and construction projects which included a high level of responsibility related to traffic safety and operations.
Experience presenting complex traffic safety and operational issues to the general public.
Experience conducting/reviewing alternative analysis studies related to traffic engineering.
