Position Description: The Engineering and Design Services Group is seeking a Parks Engineer (Engineering Manager) to lead the Engineering and Technical Services Group within the Planning and Development Division of Seattle Parks and Recreation. The successful candidate will provide technical oversight and support for the entire Seattle Parks and Recreation system, including design for parks/facility improvements, survey services, environmental analysis services, review of consultant designs, public works construction contracting and inspection, condition assessments, surveys, standards development, engineering records management, troubleshooting, and advice and coordination regarding various technical matters pertaining to property, facilities and policies both within SPR and as related to the City of Seattle as a whole. Job Responsibilities: The Engineering Manager will oversee and provide a wide array of engineering design and technical services not only to the staff within the Planning and Development Division, but also to maintenance and operations staff throughout Seattle Parks and Recreation. This position also serves as the technical liaison to all other City Departments, as well as other government and private entities. You will be a working manager, supervising the activities of a close-knit crew of landscape architects, architect, engineer, environmental analysts, surveyors, and administrative staff, as well as producing your own personal work products when appropriate.
