The City of Naperville seeks a motivated and qualified individual to serve as a Project Manager in the Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED) Business Group. The Project Manager addresses a variety of short and long-term transportation matters, including (but not limited to) roadways, bicycles, pedestrians, commuter and downtown parking, and transit. The Project Manager leads and participates in multi-disciplinary project teams, and coordinates with multiple City departments and with outside agencies on local and regional transportation projects. The Project Manager reports directly to the TED Deputy Director.
Working in a team environment, the Project Manager conducts transportation studies and plans, manages parking programs, and addresses resident, business and property owner concerns related to traffic and transportation. Additional responsibilities include providing support to City boards and commissions, and coordinating & maintaining relationships with regional transportation partners, such as Metra, Pace, the RTA, the DuPage Mayors & Managers Conference, DuPage & Will counties, and other municipalities.
A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, urban planning, public administration, or a related transportation field.
Three or more years of progressively responsible transportation engineering or transportation planning work experience.
A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License.
Preference may be given to candidates who possess an Illinois Professional Engineer license and/or a Professional Transportation Planner certification.
Desired candidates will possess strong analytical and communication skills, and strong knowledge of project management principles. Also important to this position are computer skills, familiarity with local, state and Federal transportation funding programs, and experience in report preparation.
