Taylor Engineering, Inc. seeks a Marine Structural Engineer with 6-10 years of experience to work in any of our Florida locations (Destin, Sarasota, Tampa, or Jacksonville). This position will support our interdisciplinary waterfront, coastal, water resources, and environmental team members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and design of marine structures such as seawalls, bulkheads, marine foundations, docks, piers, ship terminals, marinas, boat ramps, and shoreline protection
Prepare plans, technical specifications, and contract front end documents for marine facilities
Communicate with various municipality, utility, and government regulating agencies
Successfully manage multiple projects; ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget
Participate in business development activities and keep strong, long-term client relationships
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or other applicable engineering disciplines; preferably with Master of Science in Civil or Coastal Engineering
Experience: 6-10 years in structural engineering with marine structures
Registration: Florida Professional Engineer (PE) or Florida Structural Engineer (SE)
Experience in concrete design, pre-stressed concrete design, steel design, timber design, piling design, and aluminum design in accordance with applicable codes
Have knowledge of all applicable regulations and requirements including ASCE 7 and the provisions for wind design and load combinations for ASD and LRFD design
Have experience with corrosion problems and design of structures for an aggressive marine environment
Experience with STAAD PRO, AllPile, LPile, SupportIT, and Ensoft Group is a plus
Experience in the design of upland dredged material containment facilities including earthen dike design is preferred
Prior work in heavy civil, stormwater, or construction management is preferred
Organized with the ability to multi-task
Excellent oral and writing skills with the ability to prepare technical reports
Ability to carry out complex mathematical calculations
Possess effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and spot issues in complex technical, scientific, abstract information, designs, and diagrams
Energetic, detail-oriented team player
Lifting up to (35) pounds unassisted
Sitting for extended periods of time
Possesses acceptable vision (with or without corrective lenses) to be able to see and navigate a computer screen
Ability to go out into the field and construction sites
