The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is a group of local governments working together on issues that touch the lives of every resident. We are a regional planning agency that develops solutions in areas such as transportation, air quality, economic development, and programs that meet the human needs of the region.
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge and skills: Seeking an experienced professional engineer in the area of regional Transportation Safety Planning. Must have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, research, analytical and customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience in Human Factors and Safety Education is a plus. All candidates will be expected to demonstrate a good level of understanding and competency in the following areas: urban traffic safety; traffic engineering and road design principles; multidisciplinary road safety initiatives; road safety audits/assessments; Safe Routes to School Studies and k-8 safety initiatives; crash data analysis.
This position will report to the Transportation Safety Program Manager; support all activities and projects in the Safety Planning Programs; interact with public agencies; make public presentations; gather data; write technical papers; actively participate in local and national professional organizations such as ITE. Desired experience includes: familiarity with standards, practices and software tools related to Transportation Safety, such as: MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, predictive safety methods, spatial crash analysis using GIS; MS Access.
Experience and Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least three (3) years (level II) and at least five years (level III) of relevant verifiable experience required. A master’s degree and/or graduate work in a related field and public sector experience are preferable.
