This position autonomously performs all the responsibilities of a Project Engineer with the additional requirements herein. The purpose of the Senior Project Engineer role is to manage multimillion dollar contracts and strategic projects, in addition to less complex orders. This will include developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, resources, equipment specifications and procurement, and managing contract engineering. Additionally, serve as an equipment/systems subject matter expert (SME) supporting sales, operations, aftermarket and other business units as required.
This position requires a high level of resourcefulness as well as the ability to perceive and resolve technical problems, make challenging decisions, and successfully accomplish goals. Contribute to departmental and intercompany strategic planning and execution of improvement programs. Provide mentorship for developing engineers – which can requires being accessible, listening, providing guidance, and training. Continue education and training to stay contemporary on current industry standards. May represent the department on committees, task forces, or teams. Must be able and willing to work occasionally outside of regular business hours to meet deadlines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Project engineer and manger for custom, partially developed, or new products (BT3, BT4 and BT5 orders)
• Design and coordinate manufacture or fabrication of pump accessories
• Provide knowledge and troubleshooting assistance during the startup and commissioning of the projects
• Computer aided simulation (FEA, CFD, Dynamic Analysis)
• Perform advanced modeling, including customizing models through Application Programming Interface
• Provide anchor bolt design and calculations
• Lead or contribute to product development
• Guide Application Engineers in the replacement of KSB and competitor products
• Provide training to KSB, Inc. Reps and Consulting Engineers as needed
• Anticipate, respond to, and permanently resolve issues that arise during project management. Implement change with team.
• Utilize a solid understanding of scientific principles and professional practices to solve a range of complex problems in creative and practical ways.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Understanding of electrical controls. Ability to read and understand electrical ladder diagrams. Understanding of programming logic.
• Thorough understanding of KSB Municipal products and systems. (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, lift stations, and waste water treatment)
• Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines
• Demonstrates capability of handling multiple, distinct projects at one time
• Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• E.I.T. with B.S. degree in Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience within pump industry
• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in industrial equipment manufacturing or construction
• Experience on municipal infrastructure projects
• Experience with the best practices established by the Project Management Institute. PMP or CAPM certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months is required.
• Training or experience in vibration analysis
• Experience with 3D design is required
• Experience with ERP software is required
• Experience with Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls (EI&C)
• Experience communicating with cross functional teams and senior management
• Experience leading teams of engineering and/or commercial resources
