Responsible for the management/oversight of complex multi-discipline Atlantic City Expressway and/or Atlantic City International Airport projects or studies. The Project Engineer coordinates the design services and ensures that projects are delivered in accordance with the Authority’s quality assurance/quality control and project delivery guidelines and applies their experience of civil infrastructure (pavements, utilities, site design, storm water management, etc.), including design standards and guidelines (e.g. AASHTO), to assist in the developing strategies and recommendations related to capital projects and major work programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare the scope of work and budget for capital construction projects or studies.
- Plans and coordinates engineering capital projects.
- Review and Negotiate Task Order proposals for Engineering Consultant Services for Inspection Design and Construction Management.
- Oversee the Preparation of Bid Documents by the Consulting Engineers.
- Review Plans, Specifications and Estimates for SJTA Projects.
- Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects.
- Conduct Pre-Bid, and Preconstruction Meeting(s), Attend Bid Opening(s) and Prepare Tabulation of Bids.
- Conduct site visits on a periodic basis, oversight inspections at major milestones of the project and site visit for visual inspection of damages.
- Review inspection reports submitted by Construction Manager(s).
- Conduct periodic project progress meetings with Consultant Engineers.
- Review Invoices from Design Consultants, Construction Management Consultants and Pay Applications for Projects from Contractors.
- Review Submittals, RFIs and Construction Change Orders.
- May act as an Authority representative at meetings and promote the Authority’s interest and objectives.
- Prepares clean and precise reports and documents containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
- Maintains essential records and files.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or the department Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the work of the Authority’s Consulting Engineers. May supervise Engineering Interns
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, or other engineering discipline, or Construction Management.
- Possession of a valid Professional Engineer’s License issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Two (2) years to Four (4) of experience in highway, airport or transportation engineering related work.
- Must have computer literacy in all Microsoft Office software.
- Proficiency in AutoCADD and/or ARCGIS preferred.
- Must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
- Engineer-In-Training Certificate preferred
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in the State of New Jersey within Four (4) years preferred.

- Ability to work outdoors traveling to other job sites as needed
- Ability to lift and carry 10-20 pounds as needed.
